also known as Akhnaton

The latest excavations and researchs proved that king amenhoteb IV (akhnaton)succeeded his father in ruling egypt but didn't shared the reign with him , he started his reign from thebes city and his age was about 16 years old ,in the first few years of his reign his mother tiy helped him in ruling egypt as his anscetors he began his reign with giving offerings  to the god amun and held the five titles then he married nefrtiti .

It seems that he preferred the god aten (the sun  disc with rays ) and he started to spread the cult of aten he changed his name to Akhnaton means HE who is of service of aten , also he changed his wife's name to Nefr nfru aten which means beautiful is the beauty of aten , also he changed the capital from thebes to akhet aten (now tel el amarna in el mania) and he started the worship of aten from this city , this king dedicated all his time for the  new religion and the worship of the god aten and he didnt care for the external political affairs of egypt so the egyptian empire lost its power and authority on the northern part if its empire.
