Unusual Hathor with serpent-sceptre, from a late-period relief at Memphis
Unusual
Hathor with serpent-sceptre, from a late-period relief at Memphis (the
king at right may be the Roman emperor Trajan, which if so would put it
at about 100 CE). The goddess was typically sculptured full-faced in the
round, but it is much more unusual to see her gazing out from an
otherwise traditional Kemetic relief which showed everyone in profile.
Thanks to Yonas Theodoros for the tag.
